Pay It Forward TODAY

Pay It Forward TODAY We all have opportunities to develop relationships. We actively think about some people that we want a stronger relationship with, while there are others that are kind of on the back burner. Today I challenge you to do something that you werent planning on doing for someone that you werent really thinking of. Today is the day think of who is on the back burner, and start up the relationship again. Here are some ideas: Send an e-mail. Sounds whimpy but its easy, and effective. I got an e-mail from a HUGE industry leader that was supposed to get with me, and in the subject line he had {disarmed} in essense saying Im sorry! I goofed! Lets start over! What a great way to get back in touch. Pick up the phone. Chat. If its 5 minutes thats fine. If its longer thats great! And figure out some way to follow up regularly! Dont know how to start? Say this: Hey John, this is Jason Alba, do you have a few minutes? Cool hey, I was just thinking about you and thought Id give you a call to see how things are going? and let the conversation go from there. Write, with a pen (not a keyboard :p), a card. Its a lost practice and will have a huge impact. Invite this person to lunch TODAY. Even if they cant lunch today, you can invite them and set a date. Send a magazine, article or book, with a message like Hey, I came across this and immediately thought of you. I know you are busy but figured you would like to get your hands on this. This is a very thoughtful gesture that shows you care about their interests. heres a novel idea pass on a job lead. Even if they are already employed, or retired they might know someone that the job is for. And you never know how many of your employed friends are getting that itch to move on. Everyone should be interviewing at least once a year (in my opinion) to keep fresh, stay up on whats out there, etc. And if the lead is not relevent to them, they could pass it on, and thus have an opportunity to strengthen their network! To help you, here are two great job leads that you can pass on. If you are in Salt Lake City it applies directly to you. If you are outside of Utah then you can still pass this on you might know someone that has always wanted to work at eBay or someone that knows someone in Utah, etc. These are real positions (Id like to say they arent posted anywhere, the truth is, I dont know, but I did get word of them from an insider). However, the first step is to prepare a well-structured resume. The contents in your resume will vary from the job requirement. The resume must describe all the necessary details that can be used by the recruiter in deciding whether you are the right person for the job or not. In other words, it is important to have a resume that is not merely a docume nt but a statement of your qualifications and capabilities.Individuals who are planning to apply for government jobs should not merely look for the resume that can be produced fast. The best way to begin a resume is to think of the important and critical points that can be used for the candidate. It will also be good to have an agenda for the resume. Make sure to include the key qualifications that the applicant must have and that the resume should highlight.Besides that, the resume should also include a summary of the previous work experience. It is not always possible to mention all t he previous work experience because the recruiter may not be impressed by your prior work experience. However, it is not advisable to exaggerate the details about your previous work experience. If there are any errors on the resume, do not hesitate to ask for a correction of the information.Aside from the previous work experience, the resume should also highlight any special skills that the applicant has. For example, the prospective employee can highlight his or her ability to speak fluent English. If you have any special abilities that can be used in the specific job requirements, include them in the resume. The resume should also contain the most important points that the candidate can emphasize to the recruiter so that they are impressed enough to select the candidate. The resumes for government jobs should highlight the candidate's strength and skill. However, you should not exaggerate the details as the recruiter might not be impressed by the exaggeration. All these facts shoul d be included in the resume that you write. If you are looking for a job in government, it is important to remember that you should not be worried when the job requires you to attend a formal interview. At this point, do not be nervous, just go ahead and show your passion and enthusiasm for the work. However, do not show that you are going to take the job just to get the salary. Just be professional at all times.

Motivation Monday Blue Sky Day

Motivation Monday Blue Sky Day There is something I find so inspiring about looking up at a cloudless blue sky! When was the last time you stopped and really looked? Living in Upstate New York near Lake Ontario, we dont see as many true blue sky days as I would like, but when we get them, oh my gosh! I suppose it is their rarity that makes them so special. When my 2 year old son and I were sitting at the kitchen table one morning, I asked him what he wanted to do that day.   He looked out the window and declared (with all the spunk and innocence of a child) Its a blue sky day, we can do anything we want. I want you to think about this.   When was the last time you said that or anything like that? We get so caught up in living our lives, we sometimes forget to enjoy the emotions associated with basic pleasures in life, like a blue sky day. The truth is, you can do anything you want every day! Maybe not all day long, but maybe, just maybe, if we stop worrying about stuff, we can figure out what we truly WANT to do and be! With the encouragement from my friend and talented photographer/graphic designer, Patti Jacobs, we have completed a project to help inspire and ignite your dreams!   It is called Blue Sky Day and it is a photo journal.   52 of her photos capturing the magic of blue sky days combined with a journaling prompt and inspirational quote will keep you inspired for a year! This is what the 2 page spread looks like! You can go to the site that Patti has put together and order your book today.   It is a work in progress, nothing fancy or over the top right now.   Plus, Patti and I arent super pushy when it comes to sales and we hope that the photos are enough to entice you. If you think this is something you would be interested in for yourself, or perhaps as a gift for Mothers Day, Fathers Day or a graduate,   you can pre-order your copy today and we will be sending them out in early May! Pre-order today for $24.95 (this includes shipping) The pre-sale is over, but you can still buy the book for $24.95 (plus shipping) Become inspired by the endless possibilities of a Blue Sky Day! This photo journal combines photographs of blue skies, inspirational quotes and a corresponding page for journaling your thoughts.   Spiral binding makes it easy to write in. 52 photographs appear on the left side each with a corresponding page on the right for journaling.   110 pages, soft cover, spiral binding. 8.5” x 8.5” full color photographs. 52 photographs capture the beauty and awe of blue sky days.   Combine these photos with inspirational quotes and a question to prompt your thoughts, dreams and aspirations and you’ve got a wonderful gift to share with others or keep yourself. Journaling is a powerful way to re-energize and create positive thoughts which will motivate and generate action.   If you’ve ever been at a cross-road in your life or need clarification or rejuvenation, this journal will help get you there. Think of the amazing things you can dream and accomplish once you have written your thoughts down. We hope this brings greater purpose and meaning to your life and inspires you to live each and every day to its fullest. Design and photos by Patti Jacobs. Patti believes in the power of collaborating and following through on good ideas.   As a graphic artist and photographer, she captures the awe and wonder of the blue sky day moment so it can be shared, viewed and inspire others. Patti Jacobs work can be viewed on www.pattijacobs.net Concept by Hannah Morgan Hannah passionately writes and speaks about job search and careers.   Her inspiration for this book came from her two-year old son’s declaration “It’s a blue sky day, we can do anything we want.”
